Norbertine History

The photos and information listed in "St. Norbert"  section gives a brief visual history of Norbert of Xanten himself and the Order he established. There is a link to the Center for Norbertine Study at St. Norbert College.

The photos and information in the "Norbertine Buildings" section display a few of the main Abbeys established throughout the Order's history, most of them located in Germany or France. The first North American Abbey was establish by Father Bernard Pennings in 1925. Abbeys are crucial to the Order's lifestyle and vows as it provides a closed, Catholic 'haven' for the Norbertines to worship, practice, and live out their discipline.
